The criticism of communication technology is an important part of media criticism. However, this proposition has been questioned since argues about the value neutrality of technology exist. In recent years, as the development of internet technologies, new interpretations based on practical views have been raised, focusing on the technology determinism and the theories of the criticism of communication technology,
which are objectively evaluated with dialectics and critical thinking in this paper. Furthermore, this paper also comprehensively discusses the positive roles that communication technologies play in the development of mass media, as well as their negative influences in the internet age, such as the expansion of information gap, internet violence and media harm.
