Preparations are underway for convening Communication Technologies and Social Change Conference  Dr. Fahd Alklaibi, Dean of the College of Arts at King Saud University and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the activities of the 1st Communication Technologies and Social Change Conference organized by the Media Department at KSU next month emphasized that preparations for the conference are going according to plan. He stressed that the various conference committees are holding continuous meetings and discussions in order to implement the plans that would make the conference, which is the first of its kind in the region, successful.
He reiterated that the interaction that the conference enjoyed from those who participate in its preparation reflects the extent of the conference significance and the expectations and hopes that are pinned on it.
Dr. Alklaibi added that KSU while organizing such comprehensive technological, media and social event is in fact exercising its role and responsibility towards society, state and sustainable development by various means and mechanisms. KSU has paid earlier attention to the element of technology has made headway progress in this regard on the basis of the support provided by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince. Moreover, KSU enjoys great attention by the Ministry of Higher Education and KSU Rector, Professor Abdullah Alothman who dedicates all efforts to promote the university along with all its departments.
Dr. Alklaibi said that the Media Department at KSU, which hosts this conference, is well equipped and prepared to organize this unique event the department enjoys highly qualified national cadre in academic and professional fields whether from media, technological, communicative or community service aspects. He went on to emphasize that faculty members at the Media Department are characterized their activity in organizational work and cooperation with the rest of the university department. This would make such activities as a bee hive of vitality and cooperation between the faculty members from different KSU departments and colleges.
With regard to the conference activities, the Dean of the College of Arts stressed that this conference introduces modern communication technologies and their role in developing mass media; and tackles the issue of social, media, educational and political impact of these technologies. Furthermore, the conference discusses the effects on the social environment with regard to using this technology besides the relation between communication technologies, cultural identity and knowledge gap. He indicated that the conference has enjoyed wide response from the agencies invited to participate in it. A number of organizations, universities, institutions as well as local, Arab and international agencies will participate in this conference, which is considered the largest of its kind. The conference endeavors to deal with current issues and tries to keep abreast with international changes on technology and media levels taking into account their effect on the community. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition for the technologies that cover different aspects of media and communication with the participation of a number of technological agencies. |
