| Wide International Participation in the Conference |

The Communication Technologies and Social Change Conference, organized by Media Department at the College of Arts – King Saud University on 15th March 2009, will witness a wide international participation from a number of countries including delegations from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Yemen and Tunisia. These delegations include specialists as well as academic and professional experts in the fields of technology, communication and social sciences. Many of them will present work papers within the conference activities in order to benefit from this significant scientific and technological event and exchange experiences within the framework of cooperation and knowledge exchange between Arab countries. On the international level, the USA will participate in the conference with a delegation that includes international experts in the field of communication and its technologies besides a number of European countries including Germany, France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland. Turkey will participate in the conference with a delegation that represents institutions related to these specializations. On the same level, experts from the universities of the both the People's Republic of China and India in the fields of technologies and manufacturing will participate in the conference besides Bangladesh whose group of academics will present a number of research papers in addition to Australia which has weight in the various fields of technology. This conference is the first of its kind to be convened with this size in the region. It is a scientific conference that includes a number of main aspects represented in introducing modern technologies of communication and their role in developing mass media, the media, social, educational and political effects that can result from these technologies as well as the effects of social environment on the use of such technologies. The conference also deals with relationship between communication technologies and cultural identity and knowledge gap. It also covers and a number of aspects that represent the essence of comprehensive development. The conference activities include a number of contributions by academics, professionals, specialists, educationalists, media men and technicians. This event will provide ample opportunity fro the discussion of many issues that can be studies in order to form views that help achieve the conference objectives, develop the positive effects of communication technologies and limit their negative effects. |
